Thank you for your interest in volunteering an/or chaperoning field trips at Hammond Elementary School! We value our volunteers and the contributions they make to our students and schools.
The Howard County Public School System is implementing a new Confidentiality Agreement this school year. Any volunteers/observers/chaperones who enter Hammond Elementary School must review and sign the updated Confidentiality Agreement. This form will be available in the front office or you may print and bring your own.
You can view additional Volunteer Training information below:
According to HCPSS Board Policy, all parent volunteers must complete a Confidentiality Training Course and a Child Abuse & Neglect Training Course. Once you have completed both trainings, please sign and return both certificates to the front office.
Maryland State Law and HCPSS Policy 1030 requires all parent volunteers/chaperones to receive training on the reporting procedures of suspected child abuse prior to serving as a volunteer. Use the link below to view the "Volunteer Training" presentation. After viewing the training, print and sign the Online Training Certificate of Completion form. Please bring the signed form to the HCMS front office.
We did it!! Many thanks to our Artist-in-Education Ali Mirksy (http://alimirskymosaics.com) who worked with our 656 students for over 35 hours in March of 2018 to create a glittering 125 square foot mosaic of the Chesapeake Bay. Ms. Mirsky coordinated closely with HES Art Teachers Heidi White and Sarah Ross; they spent countless hours in preparation, including over 70 hours by Ms. Mirsky alone. Our K-2 students created the clay tesserae, and our students in Grades 3-5 cut and placed the glass pieces, with the help of many PTA parent volunteers. This legacy project was initiated and specially funded by the HES PTA through the support of its members, with special thanks to PTA President Jen Beaverson and PTA Art Grant Coordinator Sarah Richardson Fahrendorf. The PTA’s work on this initiative was championed by HES Principal Kimberlyn Pratesi. The HES PTA also received a grant for this project from the Howard County Arts Council, through a grant from the Howard County Government, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Columbia Foundation, and Target."
